Annual deaths are interpolated in a straight line between the reported anchors: 9.7 million in 2022
(GLOBOCAN), 16.2 million in 2040 (IARC projection) and 18.6 million in 2050 (Lancet GBD projection).
That gives about 11.1 million in 2026 and a cumulative 380 million cancer deaths from
2026 through 2050 inclusive. A deliberately conservative floor that assumes deaths stay flat at the
2022 level for 25 years gives 242 million. Either way, "more than 300 million people will die of
cancer between now and 2050" is supported.

Saving 100 million lives over that period is 26 percent of the interpolated total, or
41 percent of the flat floor. Both sit below the reported share of cancer deaths attributed
